The green deep-tech ideas we're exploring.

A few of the concepts live in the lab right now. We publish ideas while they're still being de-risked — killing the wrong ones fast is the point of the studio.

Rapid chemical-free PCB manufacturing

Exploring Advanced manufacturing

Around 80% of global PCB manufacturing is based in Asia, driven there by the cost of chemical processing and manual labour. We’re exploring a manufacturing approach that makes domestic Australian production cost-competitive — while cutting out the harsh chemistry the conventional process depends on.

The goal: faster turnaround, a cleaner process, and a local supply chain for the boards that sit at the heart of nearly every piece of modern hardware.

Deep sea energy storage

Exploring Energy storage

Offshore wind farms generate power far from where it’s needed, and the transmission lines that carry it to shore sit idle whenever the wind drops.

We’re investigating a low-cost, reliable deep sea energy storage concept that pairs directly with floating offshore wind. By storing energy at sea, it keeps those expensive transmission lines running closer to capacity and unlocks long-duration storage — turning intermittent wind into firm, dependable power.

Solar panel cooling

Exploring Solar

Solar panels lose efficiency as their temperature rises — on a hot day a panel can run far above ambient, quietly giving up a meaningful share of its output.

We’re exploring ways to cool panels back toward ambient temperature, with the potential for around 10% efficiency gains. Cooler panels don’t just produce more — they also degrade more slowly, extending operational lifetimes and improving the economics of every installation.
